    Stobs CampGeneral
HAWICKThe outstanding feature of the month's trg was Exercise "GRAB" - a
combined operation practising the Bn in its invasion role. 9 Br Inf Bdy Gp
was completely concentred in the Muir of Ord - Munlochy area ( N Scotland )
by the 6th. Embarkation took place on the 9th and the Bn landed at about
1130 hrs on the 10th. Thereafter the exercise proceeded as planned and the
"close" was given at midday on the 11th. It was several days before the whole
Bn returned to Stobs but the main body arrived back on the morning of the
    12th.
The remainder of the month passed comparitively quietly, with the emphasis
in trg on the firing of all weapons and for a change drill and PT, and those
who had not had leave before the exercise proceeded now.
A Coy spent the period 23 - 28 in Glasgow and Edinburgh practising street
fighting, and towards the end of the month several Offrs practised
cooperation with the 33rd Fd Regt RA in the shooting of guns.
Capt GG McGill, G3(Ia) Sc Comd visited the Bn between 24 - 26 with his
German Weapons Circus : most men had the opportunity to examine the weapons and several to
    fire them.
The month ended with a visit from the Regimental Band and an unusual
opportunity for social or semi-social functions : two concerts and three
dances were held and a ceremonial Church Parade was followed by a March Past,
the Brigadier and the Provost of Hawick taking the salute.
