Landed with 69 Bde. (5 E York) Difficulty was experienced in making tracks through minefds. Main exit at end of Red Beach was still under fire at H+3 hrs. 12 PW captured in LA RIVIERE.
A party of B Coy sp by a Daimler Armd car adv to clear up enemy posn 944965, while carrying out a rt flanking through wood 935864 they captured some PW.
The Armd Car was KOd by A Tk gun in 937858 and inf reached rd junc 940859 where they were mortared and their retreat cut off by MG fire.
A Kings patrol contacted them and led them back via beaches at 850863.
300-400 PW on beaches.

Westminster Dgns - "C". Sqn.
Provided 22 Flails for 1 Corps of which were divided as follows:- 1. 12 to 22 Dgns a 8 under Major Wallace. b 4 under Capt. Beaumont. 2. 5 to 266 Fwd Del Sqn (1 tp under Lt. Ingram). 3. 5 to C Sqn Cdn Armd Del Sqn. Major Wallace’s party landed QUEEN WHITE at H+3 hrs 5 mins. Congestion on beaches which were under mortar fire. All flails joined up with Staff Yeo in ass area South of HERMANVILLE. During move fwd to BIEVILLE two flails were KOd by an 88 mm from the West. At BIEVILLE Staffs Yeo were attacked by 10 Mk IV disguised as Tigers. 6 KOd. Flails not engaged. Joined by two flails of 22 Dgns. Harboured with Staffs Yeo. 1 flail damaged by fall when avoiding a tk fire. Capt. Beaumont's party landed H+5 1/2 with ERY and harboured night 6/7 at COLLEVILLE-SUR-ORNE.

All DD tks except a few which made a 50x swim were landed from LCTs after they had beached.

There was generally speaking light opposition on the beaches, tho' 2 x 88 mm at 8855 brewed up 4 SRY tks. The chief difficulty arose from congestion on the beaches and inadequate exits.

2 Sqns 4/7 DG and flanks of W Dgns sp 69 Bde in their attack on LA RIVIERE.

SRY reported hy fighting in sp of 231 Bde in LE HAMEL continuing until the afternoon.
