This memorial, located near Bavent in Normandy, commemorates the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion who landed in the early hours of D-Day, 6 June 1944, and defended the eastern flank of the Allied landings.
The site also features memorials to Brigadier James Hill, commander of the 3rd Parachute Brigade, and to the 3rd Parachute Battalion, all of whom played key roles in the hard fighting in this sector.
