of the 50 Northumbian Division
supported by other units of the British Liberation Army were the first
troop to land at Asnelles and le Hamel at 07:30 hours on D Day 6th June 1944
From here they started on their victorious advance to free
many towns and villages in France, Belgium and Holland
and were the first British infantry to enter Germany.
