A memorial to the 177 French soldiers of Commando No4 located opposite Bénouville church (Église Notre-Dame du Port)
In memory of the 177 French Soldiers from Commando no 4
under the direction of Commander Kieffer, wearing
the famous “Green Beret”.
Landing on the 6 June 1944 they joined the paratroopers of the
6th Airborne Division in Benouville, with the objective to preserve
bridges over the canal (the future Pegasus Bridge) and the Orne.
Unveiled on the 6 June 2018 in the presence of veteran
