A memorial commemorating the location Captain Roger Wietzel took French Earth for General De Gaulle.

Captain Roger Wietzel commanded the retired battleship Courbet which had been stripped of anything useful having been previously used for target practice. It was towed to Normandy where it was scuttled on the 9th June 1944 to form part of the Gooseberry breakwater
