Hill 309 was captured on the 30th July 1944 by the 4th Coldstream Guards and later renamed to Coldstream Hill.
On the hill there is now a memorial to Brigadier Sir Walter de Stopham Barttelot commander of the 4th Coldstream Guards. He was killed a few weeks later on the 6th August and is now buried at Saint-Charles-de-Percy War Cemetery
