Dead Man's Corner Museum is located near the village of Saint-Côme-du-Mont, in Normandy, France between Utah Beach and Carentan.
The museum takes its name from a gruesome landmark from the days following D-Day. As an American tank was moving along the road in front of the museum it was hit by a German Panzerfaust, disabling the tank and killing its crew. The remains of the tank's commander hung from the turret for several days while the fighting continued in the area, leading to the crossroads being named "Dead Man's Corner."
The museum contains artefacts from both the German and American units who served in the area including helmets, equipment, a large collection of weapons. Many of the items in the museum have provenance and accounts of the items original owners experiences in Normandy.
The exhibitions Include many items linked to the men featured in the series Band of Brothers including items from Dick Winters and from the crashed C-47 in which Easy Companies commander Lt Meehan was traveling.
At the same site as the museum there is also a C-47 simulator built from an original C-47 plane, a 3D movie theatre and a very good militaria shop.
