Dead Man's Corner Museum
Dead Man's Corner Museum is located near the village of Saint-Côme-du-Mont in Normandy, between Utah Beach and Carentan. It occupies a historically significant building that served as a German paratrooper headquarters during the early stages of the Normandy invasion.
The museum takes its name from a tragic incident in the days following D-Day. An American tank was struck by a German Panzerfaust near the crossroads in front of the building, killing its commander. His body remained visible for several days during the fierce fighting, leading soldiers to nickname the intersection “Dead Man’s Corner.”
Inside the museum, you’ll find a rich collection of authentic artifacts from both German and American airborne units, including helmets, equipment, and a large selection of weapons. Many items come with documented provenance and personal stories from the soldiers who used them, adding an intimate and powerful dimension to the exhibits.
A notable part of the museum focuses on Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, made famous by the Band of Brothers series. Items include artifacts linked to Major Dick Winters and remnants from the crashed C-47 aircraft that carried Lt. Meehan and his men into Normandy.
On-site, visitors can also experience a 3D cinema, explore a full-size C-47 flight simulator constructed from an original aircraft, and browse an extensive militaria shop.
