A memorial to general Pratt who was the highest ranking Allied office killed on D-Day during the invasion of Normandy.
He was killed when the glider he was flying in landed on wet grass which caused the glider to skid overrunning the landing zone and crashing into a row of trees.

101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION (UNITED STATES ARMY),
WAS KILLED WHEN HIS GLIDER CRASHED 250
METERS EAST OF THIS POINT. HE WAS THE
FIRST GENERAL ALLIED FORCES OFFICER KILLED
IN THE LIBERATION OF FRANCE.
