Lieutenant James Gerald Marshall-Cornwall of the Grenadier Guards was commanding a tank when he was shot by a sniper.
He was buried where he fell in an orchard near Cahagnes, after the war the land owner presented the site of the grave to Lt. Marshall-Cornwall's farther who requested the grave remain undisturbed.
The grave is marked by a Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone and a privately erected monument.
The grave is location to the side of the D54 between Cahagnes and Caumont-l'Éventé, about 2 km from Caumont-l'Éventé.
