Normandy Victory Museum
The Normandy Victory Museum is located on the site of the former American airfield A10, just outside Carentan. The museum focuses on the fighting that followed the D-Day landings, particularly the difficult hedgerow battles that took place in the weeks leading up to the breakout from Normandy.
The museum features more than 20 large dioramas that depict scenes from the Normandy campaign using restored vehicles, uniformed mannequins, and original equipment. These displays represent both Allied and German forces, as well as the experiences of local civilians. The quality and detail of the dioramas stand out, offering visitors an immersive view of life on and around the battlefield.
Exhibits cover a range of themes including American airborne operations, the role of the French Resistance, and the day-to-day conditions for soldiers and civilians in the bocage countryside. Many items are displayed with period photos and background information to give context to the scenes.
The museum is spacious, well laid out, and includes a short introductory film. It also has a strong educational focus, with signage in both French and English. Located near the N13 between Utah and Omaha Beaches, it’s easy to include as part of a wider tour of the American sector. The quality of the displays makes it a worthwhile stop for visitors interested in the post-D-Day campaign.
