This memorial honours the members of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada who gave their lives in the capture and defence of Anguerny on 6 June 1944. The regiment landed at Bernières-sur-Mer on D-Day before advancing inland as part of the 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade, securing Anguerny after heavy fighting.
The plaque was unveiled on 5 June 1994, the eve of the 50th anniversary of D-Day, in remembrance of those who fell.
The memorial is located where Rue Bill Ross meets Rue Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in Anguerny.
