Saint-Désir-de-Lisieux German war cemetery contains the graves of 3,735 German soldiers. Many of these soldiers came from the 15th/7th Army and the 5th Panzer Army who had managed to withdraw from the Falaise pocket suffering heavy losses.

The Saint Désir Commonwealth War Cemetery contains 598 Commonwealth burials, 5 of which are unidentified. Most of those buried here died in the final stages of the Battle of Normandy as the Allies pursued the German forces towards the Seine.
