Grenville Hall, DROXFORD. Camp A9 7th Field Firing Exercise at Kithurst Field Firing Range for Headquarters
and Support Companies.
8th B & D Companies at Southampten on Street Fighting Exercise.
Anti-Tank Platoon shoot at Herdle House A tk range.
9th Senior Officer for Physical Training arrived and stayed with the Battalion
until 10th May.
10th TEWT for Company Commanders at East Riding Yeomanry HQ
11th S Company at old Winchester Hill 3" Mortar Range carrying out 3" Mortar shoot.
16th Visit by major Generals Evetts, Steele and Brunskill.
17th A & C Companies on Field Firing Exercise at Butser Hill Field Firing Range
in morning, B & D Companies in the afternoon.
Landing Craft Infantry leading practice carried out by Battalion.
Testing of Respirators carried out in mobile gas chamber.
18th 1030 The Commanding Officer attended a conference at HQ 3 Br Inf Division.
Rifle Companies at Sullington Classification Range.
Inter-Company sports meeting held in camp which proved very popular, the
whole Bn entering into the spirit of the occasion.
1600 Visit by Major General RH Lorie.
19th Visit by General Sir Bernard Montgomery. He arrived at 1100hrs and spoke
to the Bn on parade. He stayed for lunch in the Officers Mess and left at
1415hrs.

at Bulford.
20th Practice LCI(L) loading at SOUTHSEA and disembarkation at GOSPORT.
Visit by General EISENHOWER to 3 Br Inf Div. 100 All Ranks represented
the Bn.
21st Bde Comds briefing for Operation "OVERLORD"
22nd Inspection by H.M. The King of the 9 Br Inf Bde at HAMBLEDON - 500 All Ranks
represented the Bn.
25th Camp sealed in preparation for briefing.
26th Briefing commenced.
30th Battalion moved to concentration area at Camp A7, WATERLOOVILLE
