to advance. The ADS was therefore moved up to JERUSALEM to take over the site of the CCP which closed ready to go forward. It here that the value of our 40' x 40' penthouses was first demonstrated in France. With all the buildings shattered, the only shelter possible was canvas. Casualties were heavy and the weather was bad, but the penthouses enabled us to treat and accommodate them all under reasonable conditions. A number of high ranking officers, both British and American visited the unit during this period to see the work being done.

Progress in the beachhead now became very slow, with 50 (Northumbrian) Division still being directed on VILLERS BOGAGE. For a short while the CCP remained closed and casualties were admitted direct to the ADS. After more or less continuous battling, the brigade advanced through LINGEVRES and on towards HOTTOT. The CCP therefore moved forward to re-open whilst the ADS remained in its same Location. Thus the normal evacuation of RAP to CCP to ADS was again brought into being.
