Sgt Dockerill and RAF Comrades Memorial, Colombelles
This memorial plaque is dedicated to Sergeant A. Dockerill, his 18 comrades, and four Royal Air Force personnel who were killed on the night of 5–6 June 1944 during operations in Colombelles, Normandy. The inscription, placed by Dockerill’s family, expresses gratitude to the people of Colombelles for honouring the men who lost their lives.
The plaque is written in both English and French, reflecting the cooperation and shared remembrance between local residents and the families of those who served. It stands as a personal and collective tribute to the airmen who died in the early hours of the Normandy landings.
