This plaque marks the spot where five soldiers of Le Régiment de la Chaudière were temporarily buried after being killed in Colomby-Anguerny on the evening of 6 June 1944. The men were part of the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division, which advanced inland from Bernières-sur-Mer to liberate the village on D-Day.
The soldiers were later reinterred at the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, where they now rest among more than 2,000 Canadians who fell during the Normandy campaign. Their names are:
Phile Boudreau, Antonio Ladas, Edoine Landry, Fernand Hains, and Louis Valmont Roy.
The plaque also expresses thanks to Madame Pauline Ripoll, who cared for and decorated the site before the soldiers were moved to their permanent resting place.
These same five men are also commemorated on the nearby Anguerny Canadian Liberators Memorial located a short distance away at the entrance to the Louis-Valmont Roy School car park.
The following inscription appears on the plaque:

cinq soldats canadiens du
Régiment de la Chaudière, tués sur
notre commune le soir du 6 juin 1944
Phile BOUDREAU
Antonio LADAS

Remerciements à Mme Pauline Ripoll
qui a entretenu cet endroit et fleuri
les cinq pierres tombales dans le
cimetière militaire de Bény/Mer-Reviers
où sont regroupés les 2 043 soldats canadiens.
In English, it reads:
