Ashford. Kent."C" Squadron moved to conc area of 30 Corps.
30th141 RAC (The Buffs) completed tests of its 45th complete Crocodile eqpt
(i.e. its WarEstablishment) thus becoming the first flame-throwing tank
    regt in the British Army.
The whole of this was accomplished in the period from 17th Feb 44.
On this date the first MK VII arrived not fitted with belly pipes.
on 17 Mar 44 the first trailer arrived - untested.
In order to achieve this the Unit fitters and LAD were transformed into the
equivalent of an assembly plant in order to overcome the bottlenecks in
industrial production - in all these equipments the guns were fitted, the
belly pipes assembled and fitted, the links fitted and the trailers given
their C I A tests from unit resources. As a result of this experience
many suggestions from the unit were accepted as modifications, e.g. new
towing brackets, recovery eyes, modified Servo on the Clayton valve,
modified clamps to the rear doors, modified pintle. During the same
limited period the whole regiment was trained in the operational use of
the equipment a method of use and tactical doctrine evolved. Some
of these lessons are incorporated in the "Directive on the Employment
of Crocodiles". enclosed in Appx .
The Regiment is rightly proud of this achievement in face of numerous
    and considerable difficulties.
