At times the Unit was literally scattered over the face of France - at one period indeed it was not only a case of composite Sqns but even of composite
tps. It was in fact a period of considerable strain and fatigue to the Regt, being one of
the very few Units (if not the only one) called upon in every port. With the exception of Le Havre the
Crocs did yeoman work, not so much in their Croc role but as gun tks.
Operation 'WELLHIT' is dealt with separately at Appx 'A'. Sqn activities are given separately
as Appx 'B' Att also are the following appendices - promotions, total casualties for the month,
regimental mentions, newcomers. |

MR 147914 | Bde, but remained under operational comd of 30 Armd

the 14th September 44. | |||
CROIX MARE MR 035343 | 5 - 10 | 141 RAC had thus passed the Rubicon of those days - the River SEINE!
MANNEVILLE MR 6738 (Sheets 7E/4 & 8E/3) East of Le Havre. | 10 - 12
Yebleron 8139 (Sheet 7E/4 & 8E/3). | 12 - 14
LE VAST MR810562 East of Boulogne. | 14 - 23
LEUBRIGHEN MR 775676 South-West of Calsis. | 23 - 24
FERQUES MR 792645 | 24 - | For 141 RAC the month of September was the Battle
of the Channel Ports and 'B' Sqn were with the Americans at BREST. It therefore devolved on 'A' &
C' Sqns to join in the capture of LE HAVRE, BOULOGNE and CALAIS and C P GRIS NEZ. These followed
one after the other in such rapid succession that the Crocs were moving straight out of one action
almost the minute it was complete into assembly areas for the next, and planning was often done with the
Crocs themselves still on the move. |
