| 1-16 | We moved from the La Butte area to just north of | ||
| Juaye - Mondaye. During the period here the enemy arty | |||
| put down a few shells at odd intervals and there was | |||
| some E.A. activity both by day and night. I moved the | |||
| whole LAD into RHQ to be near the tanks. We had | |||
| previously tuned down the fishtails of the of CROMWELLS to | |||
| prevent exhaust being thrown into the air. Some over- | |||
| heating was experienced so an experiment was carried | |||
| out. Fishtails were boxed in and a small semi-circular | |||
| chute was placed over each. Highly successful. But in the | |||
| meantine a 30 Corps modification came out with a | |||
| long chute right across the back of the rear grill | |||
| without boxing fishtails. Orders were received to stop | |||
| experimental work & fit these chutes Sufficent material | |||
| was scrounged to make up over 2/3rds of the |

| 17th | LAD rejoined A2 ech & proceeded to move to | ||
| Fresnay -le-Crotteur. Part the Ech. was caught in an | |||
| enemy "stonk" of about 50 rounds at Jurusalem | |||
| x roads. Only one cassualty in LAD - slight and | |||
| remained on duty. | |||
| 18th - | Div in action with Guards Armd and 11th Armd Div | ||
| 26th. | to clear CAEN and suburbs. Ech. moved to | ||
| COLEVILLE at Regt IFS, | |||
| 27th | at Colomby-sur-Thaon. | ||
| 29 | Regt at IFS still in battle position as a flank | ||

| During period 18th - 29th, EME went |

| was only called for one Cromwell. All work possible | |||

| by LAD at COLEVILLE and CONUMBY-SUR-THAON. | |||
| Very little work (1 Sherman, 1 Cromwell, 2 Stuarts, | |||
| 1 Humber s/car, & 1 White armd car). sent to Bde w/kshp. | |||
| CARPIQUET. | 29th | Moved to the aerodrone. On arrival informed | |
| that the 3rd and 4th CLY would amalgamete, | |||
| keeping the LAD of the 3rd. | |||
| LAD 4th CLY were to have gone complete to 5th | |||
| Inniskillings. The 5th however had bought | |||
| their own LAD, but were short of equipment. One | |||
| Ward-la-France one Diamond T B/Down. |
