Place Date Hour Summary of Events and Information
At Sea 1st 0600 Emergency stations & Parade at 1030 hrs. Ship's concert presented at night
by Capt. R.Stone. Weather:- Fine, warm, sea very calm.
" 2nd 0600 No parades. Church services held in morning. A "Quiz" competition produced
by our BC for 3 RHA and 5 RHA resulted in a win for 5 RHA. Convoy speed
reduced because of boiler trouble on board HT "Cameronian". Convoy expected
to arrive 4th Jan. pm.
3rd 0600 Usual parades. Weather:- Windy.
" 4th 0600 Arrived in Clyde 0230 hrs and dropped anchor. No movement to disembark
until 6th Jan. Div. General (Maj.Gen. GWEJ Erskine) came on board in
afternoon and addressed all Officers. He gave us news of Gen.Harding and
Gen. Horrocks and information regarding future movements. Weather:- Cold.
Clyde. 5th 0600 Heavy baggage party left ship. Preparations for disembarking tomorrow.
Weather:- Rain.
" 6th 0600 Disembarked into lighters and landed at Greenock at approx 1300 hrs.
Entrained for Wymondham, Norfolk. Weather:- Rain.
Wymondham. 7th 0600 Arrived at Wymondham Station at approx 0600 hrs and proceeded direct to
billets. RHQ, 257 & 260 Bties at Kimberley Hall, 259 Bty in Wymondham
258 Bty at Attleborough. Day spent in settling into huts etc.
Weather:- Fine, cold.
Kimberley Hall 8th 0600 Pay Parade held to pay men for leave. RegtI Guard Mounted. Weather:- Fine.
