8 "A" Group (less 6 guns) embarked on 2 LST at TILBURY.
8 0615 MT.77 & 102 sailed for NORMANDY.
9 0300 LST's sailed from TILBURY.
ARROMANCHES 9 0900 MT. 77 & 102 anchored off ARROMANCHES

ARROMANCHES 9 2320 H.E glancing off port amidships lifeboat of MT.77 detonating on contact
with the sea. Five men were killed and 25 wounded none of this unit.
9 2100 R Gps of all Btys landed and spent the night on Vehicle Assembly Area.
10 0800 LST's with A Gps anchored off ARROMANCHES.
SOMMERVIEU 10 1730 CO & 2IC landed (without remainder of Regtl Comd & R Gps.) and reported
to 76 AA Bde HQ. The unit was deployed as follows. RHQ along a hedge
M.R.836816. "A" Tp 302 Bty. M.R. 812811. "B" Tp. 302 Bty. M.R. 837821
"C" Tp 303 Bty M.R. 862787. "D" Tp 303 Bty M.R. 807814. "E" Tp 318 Bty -
M.R. 831833. "F" Tp 318 Bty M.R. 857830
10 Remaining 6 guns from "A" gps sailed from TILBURY.
11 The 5 guns from 318 Bty plus 3 guns from "C" Tp 303 Bty moved to
defend PORT-EN-BESSIN.
60 rds were fired by "B" Tp on ground targets on the village of HOTTOT.
11 2030 Remaining 6 guns were landed.
12 1400 Remainder of Regtl Comd & R Gps landed.

14 2330 REME W/shop A Gp landed under shell fire in a thick smoke screen and into
between 7 ft and 8 ft of water. Most vehicles drowned but all were brought
ashore. One 4 X 4 Bedford 3-ton G.S. truck was driven through 7'6" of
water with the hand-throttle full open and the driver sitting on the cab.
16 0045 A Category I claim was put in for a Ju 88 engaged by 'D' Tp. One Motor-
cyclist admitted to hospital and struck off strength.
18 0240 Category I claim was put in for an unidentified target engaged by 'C' Tp.
20 0355 Category I claim was put in for an unidentified target engaged by 'B' Tp.
20 2359 Up to this time the rounds fired by the Regt were (a) in the AA role -
3467 (b) Ground role percussion - 1627 (c) Ground role airbursts - 321.
21 0155 A Category I claim was put in for a Ju 88 engaged by 'F' Tp.
21 0159 A Category I claim was put in for a Ju 88 engaged by 'E' Tp & 'B' TP.
21 1600 Regt HQ moves into the village of SOMMERVIEU.
