This plaque honours Private Louis Valmont Roy of Le Régiment de la Chaudière, who was killed on 6 June 1944 during the fighting in Anguerny on D-Day. It was unveiled on 6 June 2019, marking the 75th anniversary of his death, in the presence of his sister and nephew.
The plaque is displayed at the Louis-Valmont Roy School in Colomby-Anguerny, which was renamed in his memory during the same ceremony. Private Roy is buried at the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, where many soldiers of his regiment rest.
He is also commemorated nearby on the Anguerny Canadian Liberators Memorial located just a few metres away at the entrance to the school car park.
