2. Briefing

(a) SEABORNE element.

All offrs and N.C.Os down to incl Sgts had been briefed by the C.O. and Coy. Comds in conc areas (GRAYS).

All troops were briefed by Os.C, troops in L.C.I. on the evening D - 1 while at anchorage off SOUTHEND

(b) GLIDERBORNE elements

Pl.Comds. were briefed D - 10 and other ranks D - 7.

The only real difficulty experienced at this stage was the arrangements which would have to be improvised for unloading handcarts and M/Cs from L.C.Is. on to the beach, particularly if it was to be a deep water landing, since handcarts had too wide a wheel span to be wheeled off the landing ramps.

Despite many requests, no previous reconnaissance of L.C.Is. was allowed in order to see, beforehand, what measures were necessary. However with the ready co-operation of N.Os i/c. L.C.I. improvisations were made for sliding handcarts down handrails or for removal of outside handrails on arrival at the beach.
