INTENTION: 8 Armd Bde will advance to and dominate the area VILLERS BOCAGE 8157 with the object of holding up German forces moving towards our bridgehead.

8 Armd Bde - 1200 - By midday SRY had reported BAYEUX clear and sent patrols down the roads running SE, S and SW from the town. Progress during the afternoon was steady towards the Phase IV objectives which were tkane and. secured by 1800 hours. 4/7 DG with 151 and 69 Bdes advanced to the ST LEGER feature and the line of the railway West of NONANT 3275 and these Phase IV positions were consolidated.
2200 — Bde Comd received codeword YAR, the order to form the mobile column (see 00 No. 25) on the morning of Jun 8.
24L were unloaded during the late afternoon and the regt was ready for action by midnight.

SRY. A Sqn with the Essex attacked BAYEUX. B Sqn with 2 SWB came in from the North. C Sqn remained in reserve with RHQ in ST SULPICE.
