When A Sqn landed at H+9O the beaches were very congested.

A Sqn sp 2 DEVONS at RYES and then the 2 ESSEX.

0905 Tac HQ lands. LCM is hit by a shell and sunk. All comns lost.

0950 47 RM Cdo land strength 300, after 3 craft have been sunk.

1930 231 HQ at MEUVAINE.

2100 231 HQ at ST COME DE FRESNE.

Notes: A. 231 Bde's aslt was difficult for two reasons apart from those inherent in the operation.

1. The air bombardment dropped South of LE HAMEL - because of bad visibility. (Top Secret - COHQ - Bulletin Y 36 - of "Neptune - Overlord" Assault by Force "G" & 50 (N) DW).
