No.2 team: Task: to breach minefd up to lateral rd, turn left, adv up lateral road past X rds, turn right into Marsh and make a lane to VER SUR MER.

First part accomplished. Marsh was too boggy to cross and flails got stuck in craters on lateral rosd.

No.3 team: Task: Breach minefd near X rds and clear rd as far as OP house.

Both flairs hit by 88 in LA RIVIERE.

Y Breaching Team

No.4 team: Bogged before reaching lateral rd.

No.5 team: Task: breach minefd up to lateral rd, to North- South minefd, turn left 50x across rd and breach North-South minefd. Turn right at end of minefd and make a lane up to lighthouse posn.

Cleared beach obstacles but got bogged before reaching the lateral rd.

From this posn gave cover to No.6 team and sp inf attack on LA RIVIERE with HE and smoke.

No.6 team: Task: Breach minefd up to lateral road, left of North-South minefd, turn right after crossing road, breach North- South minefd, and take up posn behind hedgerow. On further orders, to make lane up to the road just to right of lighthouse posn.

One Crab silenced 88 mm in LA RIVIERE which had hit an AVRE. One Crab bogged but lane was cleared.

General Remarks

1. Area which contained the 88 mm gun at end of sea wall at LA RIVIERE was dealt with in the fire plan by 6 Sqns of Fortresses, (88 mm was aiming pt) 4 Destroyers, 86 Fd Regt, 2 LCT(R) and other sp craft.

2. There were more minefds than expected but all were well marked.

3. Infm about marsh was inaccurate. Only ways off beach on this front were the roads.

On completion of the aslt phase, sqn rallied in an orchard on South outskirts of VER SUR MER. 5 Crabs reached rally at 1400 hrs and were ordered fwd to VILLERS LE SEC. On receiving news of tk threat, tks took upposn on high ground South of CREULLY, where they were joined by 7 more Crabs recovered from the beaches. Threat did not materialise, and Sqn leaguered South of CREPON night 6/7.

0645 Run in shoot directed on enemy bty and company localities in area LA RIVIERE and MONT FLEURY.

All except 3 secs of I RM sp Regt failed to land.

1455 Report gun lines at CREPON 898827 under fire from snipers located in villages and woods and from mortars. (See 6 Green Howards 6 Jun)
