0745 Spasmodic DF on beaches from 75, 88, 105 and 150 mm.

0825 First tps land. Heavy swell, mines, underwater obstacles, congestion. Some vehicles drowned. No tks or guns lost.

0925 Remainder of Regt land. (1 Dorset)

0900 2x88 area 890845 kill tow of Dorset. 0P party.

50 (N) DIV H RE 1200 4 exits (2 light and 2 hy) ready on JIG and KING beaches and handed over to 1014. Beach Sub Area.

233 Fd Coy RE. No. 3 pl (less two secs) landed on KING GREEN. Wet landing. Mortar bombs began to fall as last men were leaving water.
Thug parties took inf through minefds but cas made further gapping impossible until all secs were conc.
Two res secs landed with cas, made further diversion round crater near OP house, cleared rd from VER SUR MER to high ground area pt 52.

Later ass with rest of coy and moved fwd to CREPON. Cas: K 6, w 6, M 1.

No. 2 Pl.
2 Thug parties - one with each aslt party of 5 East Yorks.
- 2 aslt secs and 1 res sec.

Thug party on left beach was pinned by SA fire. Right party made tow personnel exits.
After the aslt pl worked on route LA RIVIERE - MONT FLEURY - VER SUR MER.

No. 1 Pl. Landed with res coy. Breached 80x minefd from beach lateral rd to start of inland rd to VER SUR MER.

Hy opposition at LE HAMEL from strong pts along the sea wall, firing LMG along the beach. These were not cleared until H+6. Beach exits opened from H+2. Very few beach obstacles could be removed owing to opposition. Evening - most of coy reached ass. area at ASNELLES. Harboured night 6/7 N of RYES. Cas: K 5, W 10. (1 HAMPS) Veh cas. 9 vehs and several m/cs.

VER-SUR-MER - 0645 - Sighted French coast. 0700 - Could pick out land marks easily on coast especially sea wall at LA RIVIERE Ref 9286 and Lighthouse MONT FLEURY 9286. 0725 - All LCT touched down at correct positions. 2424 had difficulty with steering and touched down 5 minutes late.
