Bn adv (Object Mt PINCON') takes LOUCELLES but cannot cross rly line area 869728 nor take more than the Northern half of AUDRIEU.

2 Devons - 1320 - Posn North of LE MESNIL following an Arty and MG barrage surrendered to B Coy who took 2 officers and 36 ORs POWS. Pushes on to contact 47 RM Cdo in PORT-EN-BESSIN. on learning that the port has fallen, bn attacks CHATEAU 750844, captures it and reorganises on Pt 72.
2130 - Contact made with 1 US Div in the village of ESCURES.

2 SWB. - 1215 - A and B Coys supported by one Sqn RTR, on 6" cruiser, and one fd regt arty attack CHATEAUX AT SULLY. SULLY chateau attacked. Bn forced to withdraw after capturing 3 x 88 and 50 PW.
Br still held.

6 DLI. Bn HQ at 828747.
A Coy, established at cross roads 815740, provided the Bn's offensive effort during the morning. Without loss they destroyed one amphibious car, one three-ton truck and captured a half tracked vehicle loaded with amminition. All the men in these vehicles belonged to a new division - 130 Pz Lehr Div which had only recently moved on to our front and it was evident on questioning Prisoners that they had no idea we were occupying the area.

Mobile column set out midday. Adv gd were given right Pt 103 and left pt 111 as objectives. By night SRY occupied Pt 103 with 288 A Tk Bty and A Coy 2 Chesh- ires and 1 Dorsets with 24 L cleared LOUCELLES.

SRY. 8 Armd Bde Gp with various sp arms is formed up into a mobile coln to move South. This Regt is given the task of a minor right hook in order to capture some high ground known as Pt 103. The Regt moved with remarkable speed and in spite of minor enemy opposition from A Tk guns positioned itself on Pt 103 at approx 1600 hrs. Pt 105 held a commanding view from the village of ST PIERRE and FONTENAY.
